The ECORD Science Operator (ESO) regrettably announces that Expedition 377 (Arctic Ocean Paleoceanography) has been cancelled, and the current staffing exercise has been halted.

SPECIAL CALL: Inorganic Geochemist for Expedition 381

There is a special call for applications for an inorganic geochemist to participate in Expedition 381: Corinth Active Rift Development, during the Onshore Science Party only (scheduled to start on 31 January 2018 and last for a maximum of 4 weeks). This call is addressed particularly to scientists with expertise in pore water geochemistry.

Workshop Announcement: Marginal Plateaus

This workshop, taking place in November 2017, will investigate marginal plateaus, from magmatic divergent margins to transform margins, and from the continental shelf to the pelagic and contouritic setting.

CALL: Expedition 382 (Iceberg Alley Paleoceanography and South Falkland Slope Drift)

ECORD is seeking scientists to participate in JOIDES Resolution Expedition 382: Iceberg Alley Paleoceanography and South Falkland Slope Drift (20 March - ~20 May 2019). Opportunities exist for researchers (including graduate students) in all shipboard specialties - including but not limited to sedimentologists, micro paleontologists, paleomagnetists, inorganic/organic geochemists, petrologists, petrophysicists, microbiologists, and borehole geophysicists.

CALL: Expedition 379 (Amundsen Sea West Antarctic Ice Sheet History)

ECORD is seeking scientists to participate in JOIDES Resolution Expedition 379: Amundsen Sea West Antarctic Ice Sheet History (18 January - 20 March 2019). CALL: Core-Log-Seismic Integration Investigation at Sea aboard the Chikyu

ECORD is seeking scientists to participate in Core-Log-Seismic Integration Investigation at Sea: What is the role of the Nankai frontal prism in tsunamigenic earthquakes and slow slip, on-board the Drilling Vessel Chikyu (12 January - 24 February 2018). Preference will be given to graduate students, early career investigators, and researchers new to IODP science.

The European Consortium of Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) Science Support and Advisory Committee (ESSAC) is now accepting applications from active leading scientists from ECORD member countries to serve as ESSAC CHAIR from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2019.

CALL: Expedition 380 (NanTroSEIZE Stage 3)

ECORD is seeking observatory specialists and downhole logging specialists to participate in IODP Expedition 380: NanTroSEIZE Stage 3 - Frontal Thrust Long-Term Borehole Monitoring System (LTBMS) aboard the Chikyu (23 October - 25 December 2017).

IODP Expedition 370 explored the temperature limit of the deep biosphere by drilling 1.2 km into the subseafloor off Cape Muroto, Japan in late 2016.
