Open Call for the Site Characterization Panel

Open call for experts in marine geology and/or geophysics to participate in the Site Characterization Panel of the IODP Science Advisory Structure (SAS).

The Site Characterization Panel advises drilling proponents on the degree of completeness of the drill site characterization data package, and on its assessment of whether or not the scientific objectives of each drill site can be effectively achieved on the basis of the proposal and data package.

The successful candidates are expected to attend all meetings of the panel, and represent the interests of all 18 countries of the ECORD consortium.  The duration of the appointment will normally be for three years (six meetings).  Please note that travel expenses to attend the meetings would be covered by IODP-Canada.

Please see the ESSAC document for more information.  The deadline to apply is May 15, 2012.  We request that all candidates copy the Coordinator (coordinator@mail.iodpcanada.ca) when applications are emailed to the ESSAC Office.
