Microbiology Sample Material Availability
One of the scientific goals of IODP is to research the deep biosphere and the subseafloor ocean. IODP has microbiological samples from the subseafloor available for interested researchers and will continue to collect and preserve geomicrobiology samples for future research. The list of available samples is available in this spreadsheet. Sample requests can be submitted through the Sample Material Curation System (SMCS).
Data Access
The Scientific Earth Drilling Information System (SEDIS) is designed to facilitate access to data and information related to scientific ocean drilling, regardless of origin or location of data. SEDIS integrates distributed scientific drilling data via metadata.
The three main data contributors to SEDIS currently are the IODP implementing organizations (IOs) from the United States (USIO), Japan (CDEX) and Europe with Canada (ESO). SEDIS allows the public to search the IO databases by harvesting distributed metadata. SEDIS will be expanded in future stages to include a publication search engine, advanced data search, visualization and mapping tools, and other scientific drilling data.
Core Photographs & Digital Images
Whole-core photographs, close-up photographs, and digital images of core sections can be requested from the IODP-USIO website.
